LIFE NextFUMIGREEN drives sustainable progress on International Clean Energy Day

  • Responsible agriculture leads the transition to an energy-efficient future

Today, January 26th, we celebrate the International Day of Clean Energy, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly to highlight the importance of sustainable and accessible energy systems, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.

At LIFE NextFUMIGREEN, a project funded by the LIFE program of the European Union, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability through innovation in the agricultural sector.

LIFE NextFUMIGREEN contributes indirectly to advancing clean energy by focusing on reducing the use of synthetic chemicals and developing natural fumigants.

By implementing natural solutions to combat pests like whiteflies and the Botrytis fungus in greenhouses, the project promotes environmentally friendly agricultural practices. These practices reduce the carbon footprint and energy consumption associated with the production and application of industrial chemicals, fostering more efficient and sustainable agriculture.

With a total budget of €2,758,921.01, 60% co-funded by the LIFE program, LIFE NextFUMIGREEN demonstrates that it is possible to combine sustainability, efficiency, and environmental commitment to strengthen the link between sustainable agriculture and the energy transition.
