- The event organized by Finnova allowed the young participants of the Genius program to learn about funding opportunities and real cases of sustainable innovation.
Brussels, February 26, 2025 – As part of the training for the young beneficiaries of the Genius program from the Tarragona Provincial Council currently in Brussels, LIFE NextFUMIGREEN was presented as a success story in agricultural innovation. Yesterday, February 25, Aleix Castells, Communications Office Assistant at Finnova Foundation, introduced the project during the “Welcome session of the Genius Program of the Tarragona Provincial Council and first in-person training session”, organized by Finnova at its headquarters in Brussels.
The event aimed to present all available funding opportunities to the young participants of the #Genius program, while also serving as a networking space with the hosting entities.
The Genius Program of the Tarragona Provincial Council, supported by the Finnova Foundation for its management and follow-up, is an international mobility program through which ten young professionals from Tarragona benefit from a professional stay in Brussels. They will later transfer the knowledge gained to a municipal entity in their home region.
In this context, the presentation of LIFE NextFUMIGREEN provided participants with an innovative solution for sustainable agriculture. This project, led by FumiHogar in collaboration with B&B Asesores, Comercial Química Massó, BrioAgro Tech, and Finnova, aims to develop natural fumigants derived from plant extracts to control pests and diseases in greenhouse horticultural crops, reducing the environmental impact of conventional pesticides.
With a total budget of €2,758,921.01, 60% co-financed by the European Union’s LIFE program, LIFE NextFUMIGREEN will contribute to food security, biodiversity, and the professionalization of the agricultural sector.
