The project will present its circular innovation model for greenhouse pest control, supported by the LIFE Programme of the European Commission
Brussels, 20 June 2025 — The European project LIFE NextFUMIGREEN will hold a virtual event on Monday, 23 June, from 10:00 to 12:00 (CEST), as part of EU Green Week 2025, under the title “Circular Solutions for Sustainable Agriculture.” Recognised as a Partner Event by the European Commission, the session aims to share progress on replacing chemical fumigants with natural alternatives, aligned with the principles of the circular economy and the goals of the European Green Deal.
The session will begin with an institutional welcome by Yolanda Durán, European Communication Officer at the Finnova Foundation. Next, Antonio Martín Pérez, Deputy Director of Production Inputs at the Andalusian Regional Government, will address the challenges and opportunities of circular economy practices in the regional agricultural context.
The central segment of the event will feature a technical presentation of the LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project. Francisco Calderón and Carlos Ramos (FumiHogar), along with representatives from BrioAgro, Tecnova, B&B Asesores, and Comercial Química Massó, will present advances in the development of bio-safe fumigants, the use of sensors for agricultural digitalisation, waste reduction, and the regulatory impact of these solutions within the framework of the green transition.
The session will conclude with a panel on synergies between European programmes, moderated by the Finnova Foundation, showcasing success stories funded by LIFE, , Erasmus+, AL-INVEST Verde and Interreg and the cross-border project Hub Iberia Agrotech HIBA, focused on digitalisation and agri-food entrepreneurship.
The LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project spans four and a half years and is led by FumiHogar, with the participation of B&B Asesores, Comercial Química Massó, BrioAgro Tech, and the Finnova Foundation. It is co-funded at 60% by the European Union’s LIFE Programme through CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency), with a total budget of €2,758,921.01.
Participation in the event is free of charge. The session will be held in Spanish and will include simultaneous interpretation into English, French, Italian, and Greek.
