FumiHogar conducts new trials at the Tecnova Technology Centre to advance the validation of this natural fumigant under the LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project
Almería, 28 June 2025 – On Friday, 27 June, the technical team of FumiHogar carried out a new round of EOR (Official Result Evaluation) trials at the facilities of the Tecnova Technology Centre in Almería, Spain. The aim: to assess the effectiveness of FumiGreen, a natural biopesticide, against thrips—one of the most harmful pests affecting greenhouse crops.
Conducted under real greenhouse conditions, these trials represent a key milestone in the technical and regulatory validation of the product. Based on plant extracts, FumiGreen offers a more sustainable and less toxic alternative to conventional chemical fumigants, aligned with the European transition towards greener agriculture.
The trials are part of the LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project, co-funded by the LIFE Programme of the European Union (60%), which aims to develop and validate natural fumigants effective against whitefly and botrytis, contributing to food safety, biodiversity, and the professionalisation of farmers in the use of natural crop protection tools.
With a total budget of €2,758,921.01 and a duration of four and a half years, the project is coordinated by FumiHogar and involves the participation of B&B Asesores, Comercial Química Massó, BrioAgro Tech, Fundación Finnova, and Tecnova.
