The European project advances its internationalisation and analyses the integration of natural biopesticides in the North African market
Brussels, 29 September 2025. On Friday 26 September, representatives of the LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project carried out a mission in Morocco to present the progress of the natural biopesticide developed within this European initiative. The delegation was led by Carlos Ramos, director of FumiHogar, the coordinating entity of the consortium.
The visit included meetings with local distributors and with Dr. M. Mohamed Elkoudrim, Head of the Centre Régional de la Recherche Agronomique (CRRA) in Marrakech. The team also visited the research centre’s facilities, where discussions focused on the potential application of the Fumigreen product in the Moroccan agricultural context.
The mission provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge on the challenges currently faced by farmers in Morocco, the growing trend towards sustainable solutions, and the interest in innovative products such as those developed by LIFE NextFUMIGREEN. The distribution and typology of greenhouses across the country were also analysed.
With a total budget of €2,758,921.01, co-financed at 60% by the European Union’s LIFE Programme, the LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project seeks to reduce the use of chemical pesticides in greenhouse horticultural crops by offering plant-based alternatives that protect biodiversity, improve food quality and promote a more sustainable agricultural model.
