LIFENextFUMIGREEN and Interreg Sudoe BioSolUDOE Drive Biopesticide Innovation Through a Technical Networking Day in Almería

Experts from Spain, France, and Portugal share progress on natural biopesticide development and integrated pest management strategies at Tecnova facilities

Almería, February 5, 2026.In a joint effort to advance towards a more sustainable and chemical-free European agriculture, the LIFE NextFUMIGREEN and Interreg Sudoe BioSolUDOE (https://interreg-sudoe.eu/proyecto-interreg/biosoludoe/ ) projects held a day of technical exchange and institutional synergies in Almería last Wednesday, January 21st.

The event, which brought together experts from Spain, France, and Portugal, aimed to foster knowledge transfer in Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The day began with a visit to the Koppert Experience Center (https://www.koppert.com/ ), a world leader in biological control, followed by a technical immersion at the Haciendas Bio (https://haciendasbio.com/en/ ) commercial farm, where combined field strategies for disease control were analyzed.

The central networking session took place at the Tecnova National Technologic Center (https://www.fundaciontecnova.com/en/ ), hosted by Carolina Martínez (Senior Researcher) and Blanca Sabarit (Phytopathology Technician). During this meeting, BioSolUDOE partners showed a high level of interest in the fumigant technology developed by LIFE NextFUMIGREEN.

Key representatives from the consortium, including Carlos Ramos (Operations Manager at Fumihogar, https://fumihogar.es/en/, and project coordinator), Benito Ortega, and Abel Zaragoza (Comercial Química Massó, https://www.cqmasso.com/en/), presented critical progress on the biological dossier and the registration phase of new natural products for agricultural use.

A Solid Consortium for Sustainability

LIFE NextFUMIGREEN has a total budget of €2,758,921.01 , co-funded at 60% by the European Union’s LIFE Programme. The project is led by Fumi-Hogar in collaboration with B&B Asesores, Comercial Química Massó, BrioAgro Tech, Tecnova National Technologic Center, and Fundación Finnova.

This inter-project collaboration highlights the importance of transnational cooperation to meet the goals of the European Green Deal and reduce dependence on synthetic pesticides in the agri-food sector.
