- The FumiHogar led project highlights the technical expertise of phytopathology specialists in reducing the impact of agrochemicals on soil and water
February 11, 2026. On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the European consortium LIFE NextFUMIGREEN pays tribute to the women leading the transition towards residue-free agriculture. In this edition, the project focuses on the technical work developed at cutting-edge centers such as Tecnova, where specialists like Blanca Sabarit play a crucial role in analyzing biotechnological solutions.
The work of these researchers is essential to meeting the ambitious indicators set out in the project’s Grant Agreement. Their scientific efforts center on developing biopesticides based on essential oils which, unlike synthetic pesticides, drastically minimize toxicity to aquatic organisms and preserve soil health, ensuring the long-term sustainability of greenhouse crops.
Innovation with female leadership
The LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project, with a budget of €2,758,921.01 (60% co-funded by the European Union’s LIFE Programme), demonstrates that scientific excellence knows no gender. The participation of women in technical decision-making and laboratory trials is a guarantee for achieving the goals of the European Green Deal.
This joint effort is made possible through the collaboration of partners committed to talent and equality: Fumi-Hogar, B&B ASESORES, Comercial Química Massó, BrioAgro Tech, Tecnova, and FINNOVA FOUNDATION.
