1. Who we are

1.1. Finnova Foundation Services

Finnova is a European foundation that works for the constant commitment to business innovation and excellence of applied knowledge through the development of talent and its international and interregional connection. To this end, it promotes multiple networks and high-level events in order to seek resources and European funding related to technology transfer, modernisation and competitive development of public and private entities at all levels: international, regional and local. Finnova also organises events such as NETWorking, kickoff meetings, training events, conferences, accelerathons and webinars.

1.2. Who is who

When this privacy policy uses the term «organiser» we mean event creators who use the services to launch events for consumers who use our services either (a) to consume information about or attend events (<<consumers>>), or (b) for any other reason. Organisers, consumers and third parties who use our services are collectively referred to in these terms as «users», «you» or «your».

If you are resident in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, Foundation Delegation Finnova Foundation and Finnovaregio Foundation. is the responsible party with respect to personal data (defined below) collected through the services. 2. Our privacy statement

2.1. Application

This privacy policy sets out the policy with respect to information that can be associated with, or that relates to, a specific individual and that could be used to identify that individual. This information or «personal data» is collected from users on or through the services. We take the privacy of your personal data very seriously and for that reason we have written this privacy policy. Please read this privacy policy, as it includes important information about your personal data and other information.

Non-personal data» as used in this privacy policy is any information that does not relate to an individual or cannot be used to identify an individual. When you interact with the Services we may collect non-personal data. The limitations and requirements in this privacy policy on our use, collection, disclosure, transfer, and storage or retention of personal data do not apply to non-personal data.

Sometimes this will be on our own behalf, while other times it will be on behalf of an organiser using our services to run an event. This is an important distinction for the purposes of certain data protection laws and is explained in more detail below.

3.1. Information collected from all users.

Information you provide to us: As we do with all users, we collect personal information when you voluntarily provide such information to the Services (for example, by registering for access to the Services, contacting us with questions, responding to one of our surveys, or browsing or using certain parts of the Services). The personal information we may collect includes, but is not limited to, your name, address, email address, and any other information you choose to provide or that is personally identifiable to users. Information We Collect Automatically: We also automatically collect certain technical information that we receive from the computer, mobile device or browser through which you access the Services «Automatic Data». Automatic data includes, but is not limited to, a unique identifier associated with your browser or access device, (including, for example, your IP [Internet Protocol] address), characteristics about your access device or browser, statistics about your activities on the Services, information about how you came to the Services, and data collected through cookies, pixel tags, locally shared objects, web storage, and other similar technologies. When you register for services or otherwise submit personal data to us, we may associate other non-personal data (including non-personal data we collect from third parties) with your personal data. 3.2. Information collected from organisers

If you are an organiser, we will collect additional personal data about you. Information you provide to us: In certain cases, we may collect credit card information from you (e.g. credit card number, expiry date, billing address, etc.), some of which may be personal information, in order to secure certain payments. In addition, if you use our payment processing services, we will collect financial information from you (e.g., your bank account information or an address to send checks to) that is necessary to facilitate payments and information necessary for tax purposes (e.g., your taxpayer identification number). Information we obtain from other sources: We may also collect or receive personal information, including your name, email address and other contact information, from third party sources such as third party websites and marketing partners, your bank, our payment processing partners and credit reporting agencies.

4. How we use your personal data

We collect and use the personal data we collect in a manner consistent with this privacy policy and applicable privacy laws. We may use personal data in the following ways:

4.1. Specific purpose

If you provide personal data for a specific purpose, we may use it in connection with the purpose for which it was provided. For example, if you contact us by email, we will use the personal data you provide to answer your question or resolve the problem, and we will respond to the email address from which the email was sent.

4.2. Access and use

If you provide personal data for the purpose of accessing or using the services or any related features, we will use such personal data to provide you with access to or use of the services or features and to analyse the use of such services or features. We may use your personal data for internal business purposes such as improving the content and functionality of the Services, better understanding our users, improving the Services, protecting, identifying or addressing fraudulent activity, enforcing our terms of service, managing your account and providing you with customer service, and generally managing the Services and our business.

4.4. Finnova marketing

We may use your personal data for our marketing and advertising purposes, by email, SMS, display media, etc. and for other devices (such as tablets, mobile devices and TVs). We do this in order to inform you about services or events that we think may be of interest to you, as well as to develop marketing or promotional materials and to display Finnova or event-related content and advertising within or outside the services that we think may be of interest to you. We may also do this on behalf of an organiser, for example, where your previous interactions with an organiser suggest that you may be interested in a particular type of event. You may see advertisements for our services (or our organiser’s events) on third party websites, including social media platforms. If you see an advertisement on a third party website or social media platform, it may be because we have contracted the third party or social media platform to show this advertisement to our users or others who have similar attributes to our users. In some cases, this involves sharing your email address or other contact details with the third party or social media platform so that they can identify you as one of our users, or identify other individuals with similar attributes to you in order to show them advertisements for our services (or our organiser’s events). 4.5. Use of interest-based data

We sometimes infer the types of events or activities that may be of interest to you. We may use these inferences to help target advertising or personalise recommendations to you, including on behalf of the organisers. We may do this on an aggregate or generalised basis. For example, we may determine that our users who attend many comedy events also attend or show interest in drag-related events or content. We can target (or help target) content or recommendations related to both comedy and drag to those users.

4.6. Other purposes

In the event that we need to use your personal data in a manner consistent with this privacy policy you will be informed in advance of its use or at the time such personal data is collected. We may also require your consent after collection, but always before we use your personal data.

4.7. Aggregated Personal Data

In an ongoing effort to better understand and serve our users, we frequently report on the demographics, interests and behaviour of our customers based on personal data and any other information we have collected. This research is generally conducted on an aggregate basis only, so it does not identify you. Once personal data is in aggregate form, for the purposes of this privacy policy, it becomes non-personal data.

5. How we disclose and transfer your personal data

5.1. Context

We do not do business by selling your personal data. We consider this information to be a vital part of our relationship with you. Therefore, we will not sell your personal information to third parties, including third party advertisers. There are some circumstances under which we may disclose, transfer or share your personal information with certain third parties without notifying you, as set out in this privacy policy.

5.2. Business Transfers

As we develop our business, we may buy or sell businesses or assets. In the event of a sale, merger, reorganisation, corporate dissolution or similar event, personal data may be part of the transferred assets. We may also disclose your personal data in the course of due diligence for such an event. You acknowledge and agree that any successor or purchaser of Finnova (or its assets) will continue to have the right to use your personal data and other information in accordance with the terms of this privacy policy.

5.3. Parent companies, subsidiaries and affiliates

We may also share your personal data with our parents, subsidiaries and/or affiliates for purposes that are consistent with this privacy policy. Our parents, subsidiaries and affiliates will be obliged to retain such personal data in accordance with this privacy policy.

5.4. Agents, consultants and service providers

We may share your personal data with our contractors and service providers who process personal data on Finnova’s behalf to perform certain business-related functions. These companies include our marketing agencies, online advertising providers, data service and data enhancement service providers, database service providers, backup and disaster recovery service providers, email service providers, payment processing partners, customer service, technical support, hosting companies and others. When we engage other companies to perform such functions, we may provide them with information, including personal data, in connection with the performance of those functions.

5.5. Organisers

In addition, when you register for an event, when you sign up to receive communications, when you enter a competition or when you enter your personal information (for example, via a web form) to communicate with an organiser or participate in an organiser’s event, that organiser will receive such information. For example, if you enter your name and email address in a web form for an offer, activity or event of the organiser, the organiser will receive that information. The organiser may then send you marketing or other communications, which may be subject to its own separate privacy policy. In addition, if you provide your mobile phone number, you may receive information messages relating to the service, event, activity or information you are interested in.

5.6. Legal requirements

We may disclose your personal data if required to do so by law, for example, in the event of a subpoena or a request from a government agency (including responses to public authorities to meet national security or law enforcement requirements), or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary in the following cases: (a) to comply with a legal obligation; (b) to protect or defend our rights, interests or property, or those of a third party; (c) to prevent or investigate possible criminal offences in connection with the Services; (d) to act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Services or the general public; or (e) as protection from legal liability.

6. How we store your personal data

7. How to access, update, correct or delete your personal data

You can access or delete your personal data that we store. In certain cases, you may ask us to correct and update any of your inaccurate personal information by using the contact information below, and we will consider your request in accordance with applicable law.

If a consumer initiates a data deletion request, Finnova is authorised to delete or anonymise the personal data of the consumer requesting the services, even if that means removing their availability to the organiser through the services. However, if you are a consumer, you understand that even if Finnova deletes or anonymises your personal data upon your request or in accordance with this policy, your personal data may still be available in the organiser’s databases if it is transmitted to the organiser before Finnova receives or takes action on any deletion or anonymisation activity.

Non-registered users may also access, update, correct or delete personal data and exercise these rights by using the contact information below. We will note and respond to all requests in accordance with applicable law.

8. How long we keep your personal data

We may retain your personal data for as long as you are registered to use the services. You can delete your account by visiting the «account settings» page. However, we may retain personal data for longer if permitted or required to do so by applicable law. Even if we delete your personal data, it may continue to exist on archival or backup media for additional time for legal, tax or regulatory reasons or for legitimate and lawful business purposes.
