The visit focused on analysing how the project’s natural fumigant performs in greenhouse conditions and strengthening coordination between technical and communication teams
Málaga, 3 December 2025. The LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project continues to advance its technical and communication actions. On Tuesday, 2 December, a team member from Finnova Foundation, partner responsible for the dissemination and communication of the project, visited the headquarters of FumiHogar in Málaga, the coordinating partner of LIFE NextFUMIGREEN.
During the visit, the Finnova representative held a working meeting with Carlos Ramos, Operations Manager at FumiHogar and leader of the project, to review one of the key aspects under development: the mechanism and behaviour of the natural fumigant developed within LIFE NextFUMIGREEN.
The session included a detailed discussion on:
- Activation and release of the fumigant inside the greenhouse,
- Its homogeneous dispersion in closed spaces,
- Its mode of action against whitefly (Bemisia tabaci),
- Its effectiveness in reducing botrytis outbreaks,
- And the potential of natural-origin fumigants as a more sustainable, less toxic alternative to conventional products.
The visit strengthened the alignment between the technical progress achieved by the consortium and the communication strategy aimed at informing growers, stakeholders and the general public about the project’s impact.
LIFE NextFUMIGREEN, co-funded by the European Union’s LIFE Programme, aims to develop and validate natural fumigants with reduced environmental impact for integrated pest management in greenhouse horticulture. The project is coordinated by FumiHogar and involves B&B Asesores, Tecnova, Comercial Química Massó, BrioAgro Tech and Finnova Foundation.
