05/06/2023, Brussels. Today, 5 June, we join the celebration of World Environment Day, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and celebrated since 1973. From the European project LIFE NextFUMIGREEN we join this environmental cause, making visible the importance of sustainability and circular economy for its transformative nature in our quality of life and well-being.
LIFE NextFUMIGREEN is a European project of the LIFE Programme of the European Commission, which aims to test the efficacy of a fumigant based on natural active ingredients to combat whitefly pests in horticultural crops in greenhouses. Our intention is to be able to extend the results obtained in this project to the most recurrent pests and other phytosystems in agricultural and horticultural crops.
From LIFE NextFUMIGREEN we join this day, highlighting the contribution of this project in meeting the guidelines of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the European Green Deal on the use of biocides in the EU. This great initiative proposes to produce safer, more nutritious, sustainable and quality food for consumption, while reducing polluting emissions and protecting the ecosystem.
