The LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project presented at the 2nd Conference on good practices in the Alentejo-Algarve-Andalusia Euroregion

  • LIFE NextFUMIGREEN will be presented by Adrián Noheda, Director of Innovation and Environment of the Finnova Foundation, at the hybrid event that will take place on Wednesday 31 May at the La Vega Environmental Complex in Seville.
  • After the success of the first edition in 2022, this year the meeting will seek to promote Spanish-Portuguese cooperation for the proper management and treatment of waste through the collection of good practices in circular economy.

25/05/2023, Seville. The Environmental Complex of La Vega in Seville will host next Wednesday, May 31st from 09:00h to 13:00h CEST an intervention on the European project LIFE NextFUMIGREEN. This event is part of the second edition of the “Conference of good practices on circular economy and waste prevention” organised by the Mancomunidad de la Vega, with the support of the Finnova Foundation and the subsidy of the Junta de Andalucía.

The objectives of the conference will focus on generating alliances and seeking solutions in terms of waste reduction and recovery and circular economy to consolidate a joint regional response that can be reflected in projects and programmes of the European Union.

At the meeting, different presentations will be given on the problems of waste management. LIFE NextFUMIGREEN will participate through Adrián Noheda, Director of Innovation and Environment of the Finnova Foundation, in the second block on the “European financial framework for financing solutions to the challenges detected and dynamisation of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem”, which will take place at approximately 11:00h CEST.

In this intervention, Noheda will talk about the innovative technology of the LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project to develop natural fumigants from plant extracts to control whitefly populations in horticultural crops under glass. This new fumigant biopesticide, which is less toxic than conventional ones, aims to improve food security and biodiversity, among others.

About Life NextFUMIGREEN

LIFE NextFUMIGREEN is a European project that seeks to develop natural fumigants from plant extracts to control whitefly populations and fungal outbreaks of botrytis in greenhouse horticultural crops. The project, led by FumiHogar and 60% funded by the European Union’s LIFE programme, will last four and a half years and will test the efficacy of a new fumigant biopesticide that is less toxic than conventional ones. With a total budget of €2,758,921.01, this project aims to improve food safety, biodiversity and contribute to the professionalisation of farmers in the use of biopesticides.
