FumiHogar presents plant based technology in Barcelona to eliminate greenhouse pests

The LIFE NextFUMIGREEN project uses natural smoke canisters to achieve healthier food and protect European soil

February 17, 2026.

The company Fumi-Hogar presented an innovative solution for sustainable agriculture during Exposólidos 2026 (12th International Trade Fair for Solid Technology and Processing), held in Barcelona last Tuesday, February 10. In this strategic setting for industrial innovation, the progress of LIFE NextFUMIGREEN was showcased, a European project that replaces chemical pesticides with natural extracts.

Carlos Ramos, operations manager at Fumi-Hogar, held key meetings with industry leaders to demonstrate how these plant oil based “smoke canisters” allow crops to be protected in a dry way. This technology prevents humidity that causes fungi and ensures that fruits and vegetables reach the consumer without chemical residues, meeting the European Union’s biodiversity protection goals.

A strategic meeting point for the industry Exposólidos is Southern Europe’s leading trade fair specialized in the processing of solids and dry materials. Following the success of its 2024 edition, which brought together over 8,500 professionals, this year featured 148 exhibiting companies. For the LIFE NextFUMIGREEN consortium, this event validates research with a budget of €2,758,921.01, 60% co-funded by the European Union’s LIFE Programme.

The project is the result of cooperation between Fumi-Hogar, B&B ASESORES, Comercial Química Massó, BrioAgro Tech, Tecnova, and FINNOVA FOUNDATION.
