Carlos Ramos and Juanma Revuelta analyze the success of the new fumigant biopesticides that ensure food safety in Málaga
Málaga, February 25, 2026 – The European project LIFE NextFUMIGREEN consolidates its position in the biotechnological sector during its participation in Transfiere 2026, the European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation that started yesterday Tuesday in Málaga. Through the space provided by the FINNOVA FOUNDATION, a consortium partner, the project demonstrates how its plant oil based technology offers a real and safe alternative to traditional synthetic pesticides.
During the first day of the event held yesterday, Carlos Ramos, operations manager at FumiHogar and project coordinator, held a strategic meeting with Juanma Revuelta, CEO of the Finnova Foundation. In this encounter, both leaders evaluated the excellent reception of this biotechnological solution, designed to combat greenhouse pests without compromising soil health or consumer safety.
Science at the service of the agrifood chain The most outstanding feature of this innovation is its application through “dry smoke”. By dispensing with liquids, the proliferation of fungi in crops is prevented, allowing fruits and vegetables to reach the market meeting the highest food safety standards required by the European Green Deal. Throughout today, the team continues to welcome entities and professionals at its stand to explain the technical and environmental benefits of this solution.
This technological advance has a budget of €2,758,921.01, 60% co-funded by the European Union’s LIFE Programme. Its development is made possible by the joint work of a multidisciplinary consortium formed by FumiHogar, B&B ASESORES, Comercial Química Massó, BrioAgro Tech, Tecnova, and FINNOVA FOUNDATION.
