The Finnova Foundation, FUMI-HOGAR, BrioAgro and the Tecnova Technology Centre will show the progress of the European project on 26 November at 4:00 p.m. in Malaga.
Brussels, 22 November 2024 – The European project LIFE NextFUMIGREEN, designed to develop natural fumigants from plant extracts for the protection of horticultural crops in greenhouses, will be presented on 26 November at EXPO AGRITECH 2024, which is being held at the Malaga Trade Fair and Congress Centre (FYCMA).
The project, funded by the European Union’s LIFE programme, seeks to offer innovative and sustainable solutions to the main pests and diseases of greenhouses, such as whiteflies and the botrytis fungus, through the use of biopesticides that are safer for the environment and human health.
The presentation of the project will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. and will be attended by prominent representatives of the entities involved in its development. Carlos Ramos, director of operations at Fumi-Hogar and leader of the consortium, will explain the objectives and importance of the project for the future of sustainable agriculture. Blanca Sabarit, a technician at Tecnova, will present the advances made in pest and disease control with these new fumigants. José Luis Bustos, CEO of BrioAgro, will address the tools for measuring air quality in greenhouses as an integral part of the project. In addition, Juanma Revuelta, CEO of Finnova, will talk about the opportunities for European funding and the scalability possibilities of this innovative model.
Innovation and sustainability in European agriculture
LIFE NextFUMIGREEN has a total budget of 2,758,921.01 euros, of which 60% comes from European funds from the LIFE programme. This project has a duration of four and a half years, during which it seeks not only to develop more effective and environmentally friendly solutions, but also to contribute to the professionalization of farmers in the use of natural biopesticides.
EXPO AGRITECH 2024, one of the most outstanding events for the European agri-food sector, is presented as the perfect setting to showcase the achievements of this project and discuss the future of sustainable agriculture in a context of climate change.
